The Political Post - Purpose of my blog & the 1st blog

Welcome to The Political Post! The purpose of this blog is to discuss politics in the spirit of bi-partnership. All political views are welcome, and we ask that everyone respects the political views and opinions of others, while looking for an opportunity to reach middle ground. Although middle ground may not always be achievable, it is the ultimate goal whenever possible. Otherwise, we can agree to disagree. Now let's talk...

America is a democracy, not a dictatorship. A democracy is for the people by the people, according to jurisprudence and rule of law. The power of the people is through 'the vote' to avoid dictatorship, not a vote that over-rules law.

I think some far right republicans are using extreme terms such as Fascist or Socialist, to rouse their far right constituents into hysteria and to stifle the political process. Most people realize that our system of government has checks and balances, and no one person can dictate government policy.

As a nation, we must find middle ground in order to avoid a catastrophic melt down of our financial system. Capitalism is the key, but not at the expense of greed, corruption, and lack of reasonable regulation. Its not 'either - or', 'red state vs. blue state', or 'republican vs. democrat', it’s somewhere in the middle which is called 'compromise' which lays the foundation for true bi-partisanship.

Name calling from the extreme right only serves to weaken our resolve toward economic recovering, and strengthening our current financial crisis in America. Some propose that straight tax cuts for the wealthy, and corporations, are the only answer to stimulating the economy and putting American back to work by creating new jobs? Others suggest public infrastructure projects and tax rebates is the only answer? I say it’s somewhere in the middle, and that's what President Obama is proposing, but with staunch opposition. Washington tried tax breaks for corporations, and yes a small percentage of low level jobs were created, but a lot of the revenue and profit went to 'Fat Cats' in the form of million dollar bonuses, and golden parachutes. And this was whether they made or loss money for the corporation. All I'm saying is, there needs to be more accountability. Perhaps we should work from the 'middle Class America' out, rather than the top down or the bottom up.

Just a thought...

Health Care Reform is definitely needed. My only hope is by implementing a government-run medical plan, benefits may be streamlined to a degree, whereby care will be repressed similar to the Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) that restrict care.
